CTL-SPS SCOM Spring 2026 Collaboration.
Friday, April 3rd, 12-1pm (Online)
Join us for this hands-on workshop in which faculty will explore two AI tools: Google Gemini Gems and NotebookLM. We will discuss how to use Gemini Gems to design customized AI chatbots that can serve as a tutor, coach, or practice partner to support student learning. Next, we will explore NotebookLM, an AI tool that organizes and analyzes materials you upload (including documents, links, videos, and spreadsheets) to generate interactive audio overviews, infographics, slides, flash cards, quizzes, mind maps, and more, and discuss how these can be used to support flipped classrooms and other teaching innovations.
Session Objectives:
- Explore and practice building custom AI agents with Google Gemini to serve specific roles (e.g., tutor, practice partner) that support teaching and learning.
- Discover how to use NotebookLM to analyze, summarize, and generate content (like quizzes and interactive podcasts) based only on your course readings and materials.
- Discuss and evaluate the pedagogical implications of using these secure AI tools to flip classes and streamline course preparation.
